'Busiest ever autumn' for Irriplan

Following an extremely dry summer in much of the UK, British water management consultancy Irriplan has reported its busiest autumn ever, with activity on a number of projects at classic courses around the country.

Projects include both new irrigation systems and reservoirs, aimed at increasing water security in the face of uncertain future supplies. Irrigation systems scheduled to be installed and operational for the 2012 season include those at Royal West Norfolk, Rye, North Hants and Copt Heath.

“The systems have been designed with part-circle sprinklers located on the perimeter of the fairways to eliminate wasteful overthrow into the rough, thus maximising efficiency and preserving the links and heathland character of these courses,” said Irriplan partner Giles Wardle.

The company is also involved with several water storage reservoir projects, at clubs such as Rye, North Hants and Elton Furze. An Irriplan-designed reservoir is in construction at Bray Golf Club in Ireland.
