Carnoustie's Buddon is redesigned

UK design firm Mackenzie & Ebert has been appointed to advise the Carnoustie Golf Links Management Committee on improvements to the three courses on the famous Scottish links.

The project includes consideration of changes to a number of holes on the Championship course, as well as six proposed green redesigns on the Burnside, course. The immediate focus, though, is on the Buddon course: the Links Management Committee has begun construction of a Pro Centre for visiting golfers which lies on part of the first hole of the Buddon, resulting in the opening hole being removed from the layout.

The first phase of the project will include the addition of two holes on land at the far end of the course which will increase the par of the layout from 66 to 68. The designers say the new holes could have great ecological benefit through the creation of wetlands, ponds and new areas of heathland.

“We are honoured to have been asked to advise at Carnoustie. Its place in the history of the game is set in stone. We look forward to applying our links experience to the project and to developing a long term relationship with the Carnoustie Golf Links Management Committee.” said Martin Ebert.

Great news for the Buddon and should make it an even more attractive venue for the McFarlane Masters. (might have help me win more of the black stuff)
