Crown sells Cotgrave to local group

Cotgrave Place Golf Club, located near Nottingham in England has been sold.

The course, operated by Crown Golf since 2005, has been acquired by the Nottinghamshire Leisure Group, a company formed by a group of local businessmen, Alan Hardy, managing director of commercial design firm Paragon Interiors, Simon Robinson, owner of the Joshua Tree Day Spa in Nottingham, and Leigh Dyson, chairman of Sherwood Forest Golf Club.

Cotgrave was founded in 1991 and has two course, known as the Open and the Masters. The Masters was extended from nine to 18 holes in 1997, and was further remodelled in 2006.

Crown instructed Humberts Leisure to handle the sale of Cotgrave in June. Crown CEO Stephen Lewis said: “Following a phase of acquisition in 2004-2007, we have entered into a period of consolidation, focusing on the clubs which the business wishes to retain for the long term – either for operational reasons, or as a result of their development potential.”

Alan Hardy said: “Cotgrave Place has an excellent reputation and we are delighted to be acquiring such a fantastic facility. This is a highly profitable business with a proven trading record, almost 1,000 members and has good green fee, golf society and function revenue streams.”
