Danish job for Mackenzie & Ebert

Furesø Golfklub in Denmark has appointed British design firm Mackenzie & Ebert to advise on a possible renovation of the club’s 27 hole facility.

Located 20km north of Copenhagen, Furesø was originally designed by Swedish architect Jan Sederholm, and opened in 1974. M&E is working on plans for re-working bunkering and the green surrounds within the existing layout. The draft masterplan was recently presented at a members evening and, after consultation, it will be presented to the full membership for a vote to determine the final scope of work.

“M&E’s ‘less is more’ design philosophy of mirrors our own beliefs in classical golf,” said club chairman Peter Herskind. “M&E has demonstrated that the subtlety of its approach will maintain and even enhance the character of our courses and the protected landscape, at the same time improving the strategic element and joy of playing for golfers at every level.”

Mackenzie & Ebert has recently completed an extensive renovation at nearby Copenhagen Golf Club, the oldest club in Scandinavia.
