EGD to design fourth Belek course

The Belek region on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast is to get another golf course.

Local developer Belek Emlak ve Ticaret has appointed European Golf Design to create the Olivion Golf Resort course. Like the other courses in Belek, the site is located on the Mediterranean coast, but it will have one key differentiator from the rest of the region.  Olivion will be the first course to be built in this region with freehold residential units available for sale. Accompanying the golf course will be a boutique hotel and sports academy.

Master planning has been completed by WATG, who will also be responsible for the landscaping and architectural concepts of the resort, and the Golf Environment Organisation is providing a sustainability blueprint.  Detailed design work for the golf course is now under way with construction due to start before the end of 2010. The course will open for play during 2012.

EGD managing director Jeremy Slessor said: “Accepting the invitation to participate in this project was one of the easier decisions we’ve had to make. We get the chance to work with an outstanding team, led by a developer who understands, and strives, for quality. We also get to return to an area of Europe that we’ve thoroughly enjoyed working in over the past ten years or so.”  

This will be EGD’s fourth course in Belek, the previous three being the Sultan and Pasha courses at Antalya Golf Club, and the Montgomerie Course at Papillon Golf Club.
