Eco-friendly bridges from FiberCore

Rotterdam-based company FiberCore Europe has introduced a new range of composite bridges designed for golf courses that it says have a far lower carbon footprint than any comparable bridge.

FiberCore says its bridges are ten times stronger than steel and more than 15 times lighter than concrete, but are responsible for a third of the carbon emissions of either. They are installed using basic lifting gear with minimum disruption to the course. The foundations are quick to place making relocating the bridge, in the advent of a course redesign, simple. The company reckons that maintenance requirements are minimal, as green slime struggles to attach itself to the inorganic material. The top edge of the bridge has a kerb that will help keep golfers and carts on the straight and narrow and also act as an early warning to any golfers that stray from the path.
