Hoch to design at Russian resort

Clubhouse design and build specialist Tom Hoch Design has completed the space plan for the clubhouse at PGA National Russia at the Zavidovo Golf and Lake Resort, currently under construction 65 miles north-west of Moscow.
The three-level clubhouse has been designed to be the centrepiece of the course, which is designed by Dave Sampson of European Golf Design. Scottish-based golf services firm Braemar Golf, which is managing the build, introduced Hoch to the project.
“Tom Hoch Design carefully balanced the needs of the future local families, avid golfers and visiting VIP's to create an amenity-filled and destination-driven design theme,” said Constantin Zabrodin, the resort’s project director. “On a tight schedule, the firm delivered an innovative space plan to increase revenue and enhance the guest experience for a location with very different seasonal variations. They created this space plan remotely, and saved considerable money on travel and related expenses.”
Guests will be met with a two story volume entry and concierge reception services. They will also have access to a boutique golf shop, a wine cellar, dining room and locker rooms. Other highlights include three bars – a spike bar for golfers, a luxurious vodka and whisky bar as well as a relaxed Mezzanine Lounge Bar for the members and residents of the clubhouse suites - and a restaurant overlooking the eighteenth hole and River Volga influx. The third level will feature 11 guestrooms including a Presidential Suite, social areas for adult gaming and billiards, as well as a lounge and private dining area.
The design theme echoes the Arts and Crafts movement with a nod to architects and interior designers such as as Edwin Lutyens and William Morris. The PGA National eventually consist of 5,000 residential dwellings, two marinas, hotels and a commercial town centre. Braemar will also manage the golf operations once the course is complete. Construction is expected to be finished this year with a soft opening in late 2011 and a full debut, including the clubhouse, the following year.
