Honduras resort nears completion

The Pristine Bay resort in Honduras, and its Pete and Perry Dye golf course, the Black Pearl, is nearing completion.

Pristine Bay is located on the island of Roatan, adjacent to the world’s second largest barrier reef.

Routing of the Black Pearl, the resort’s first golf course, is complete and several holes have been shaped and grassed. Nine holes are expected to be ready for play this year, and all eighteen will be finished by the first quarter of 2010. Fourteen holes have views over the Caribbean Sea. Pristine Bay’s Beach Club is slated for a March 2010 unveiling. The development’s new sales centre is almost complete.

“Although many resort projects in the Caribbean have been delayed or altogether postponed, Pristine Bay’s construction continues at a steady pace,” said Mario Toriello, the resort’s vice president of sales and marketing. “With the golf course and first phase of residences nearing completion, Pristine Bay is poised to take its first step toward becoming the region’s premier golf and lifestyle development.”

Dye Designs is grassing the Black Pearl course with salt-water tolerant paspalum.
