IMG wins new Hanoi project

Singapore-based firm IMG Design has won the contract to create a new golf course in the southern part of the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi.

Private Vietnamese developer Geleximco is behind the project, which is currently in the planning and initial design stage, with construction due to start next year. Geleximco’s interests include industrial production, finance and banking, real estate, training and information technology, but this is the firm’s first golf development.

Geleximco vice-president Vu Van Hau said: “Our target is to create a world-class golf course and build a New Urban Area that will be well-known throughout the Vietnam market.”

IMG’s Mark Adams added: “The site is dramatic and will allow us to create some very memorable golf holes and a golf course that is different from the others in Hanoi.” IMG currently has four more projects under design or construction in Vietnam.
