The city of Peoria in Illinois has announced a major renovation of its Kellogg Golf Course.

The work, which will begin in August, is expected to cost around US$ 850,000 and is due to be completed in spring 2012.

"The last few years, we've been looking at renovating the bunkers," said Bill Woolard, superintendent of golf for the Peoria Park District. "That's what started the whole discussion."

The design work is due to be completed by Lohmann Golf Designs, while the clubhouse work was awarded to Thomas Steen Associates.

The PPD is yet to select a firm who will carry out the construction.
