Laguna Lang Co to open next year

Construction is under way on the new Laguna Lang Co course, near Hue in Vietnam. The course, which should open in June 2012, is being designed by Nick Faldo’s practice.

The golf course will form the centrepiece of an integrated resort being developed by hotelier Banyan Tree Holdings on a 280 hectare beachfront site. The resort will include a 2,000-room hotel, spa, resort residences, convention facilities, retail centre and recreational facilities.

“We at Banyan Tree are very excited at the start of the construction of the golf course at Laguna Lang Co and look forward to seeing the course taking shape over the coming months,” said Michael Ayling, executive director of the Banyan Tree Hospitality Fund. “Sir Nick and the Faldo Design team have achieved a wonderfully strategic layout with an abundance of variety and we are confident that we will create one of the leading golf courses in Asia.”

“We have been given this unique setting and enjoyed incorporating all of the natural dramatic features,” said Faldo. “It is a gift to have such diversity in trees, sand dunes, rice paddies, rock formations and a stunning coastline as a framework for a strategic golf course layout.”
