MetroWest Golf Club has reopened following a course renovation project, carried out under the direction of Billy Fuller Golf Design.

Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., the US$1.5 million renovation has see all 18 greens resurfaced and enlarged to a championship tournament standard using TifEagle bermudagrass.

Billy Fuller Golf Design has also carried out strategic bunker renovation, helping create better escape opportunities for players and providing greater angles of attack towards to course’s greens.

Particular emphasis was placed on creating new fairway patterns across the course, accentuating the elevation changes at MetroWest. Strategic mounding around the greens has also been put in place, and chipping areas are also now closely mown, providing golfers with more challenges around the course’s greens.

Four new tee boxes have been added to each hole, enlarged and resurfaced as part of the project. The club’s practice area has also been expanded and features new putting and chipping greens.

“Our goal with this exciting course renovation project was to continue to challenge the best players, while using state-of-the-art design techniques to make the course faster and more enjoyable for everyday golfers and players of all levels,” said Steve Schaller, general manager, MetroWest Golf Club. “We are thrilled to officially reopen the course and we are confident it will not only present a challenging test of golf, but one that’s highly enjoyable in an aesthetically pleasing environment.”
