Modry Las starts work on clubhouse

The next stage of development has started at the Modry Las course in the West Pomerania region of Poland. The foundations of a new clubhouse are being laid alongside the course, designed by Gary Player’s firm.

Work started on the US$2 million project in May. When finished, the Modry Las clubhouse will include a restaurant with a panoramic terrace overlooking the eighteenth green, a sports bar and lounge, extensive changing facilities and a golf boutique. In addition, there will be eleven guest suites, an exhibition gallery and an indoor golf practice room.

A team of architects from the US, Switzerland and Poland designed the structure to incorporate all the comforts of a country lodge. The goal is to make the new clubhouse a convivial place where guests can share good food and fine wines in a welcoming atmosphere, according to Arthur Gromadzki, chairman of Modry Las. “We want to create a place where members and visitors not only enjoy the experience of playing a world-class course, but can savour their time off the course as well,” he said. “I am very proud of the recognition we have received in a relatively short time. It is the result of a number of winning decisions made during the construction of the golf course. For instance, we delayed at times while considering the best positioning of various holes, but it paid off.”

Also in the plans are 150 course-side plots for eco-friendly homes intended to blend into the rolling terrain with views overlooking lakes and forests. These are scheduled to launch in 2011.
