Plans and visuals have been revealed for a new course in the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro.

Developer Boka Group is working with British consultants on the course, which will lie close to the yacht marina at Porto Montenegro and is situated near a Boka luxury homes development. The project is being funded entirely by British capital.

Golf course architect golfmarnoch, which has worked on projects including Los Barrancos de La Zagaleta in Spain, as well as the ongoing upgrade of Golfclub Heelsum in the Netherlands, has been appointed to design the course.

Steve Marnoch, golfmarnoch’s founder, will undertake all design work using his expertise gained as a senior member of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects.

“The golf course will have some great natural features and is bordered by a native landscape of pines, oaks and cypress trees,” said Marnoch. “The site has been cleared over the years for viticulture and whilst we would intend to retain a small reference to this former land use, it is our intention to reinstate the rich natural landscape and within that create a wonderful golf course for Montenegro.”

The eighteen-hole course will feature a clubhouse, golf academy, training facilities and driving range. The climate of Montenegro and the course’s coastal location will mean that conditions and appearance will be highly affected by the seasonal changes, ensuring a challenging course all year round.
