New golf course planned for Goa

A new golf resort is being planned for the Indian state of Goa, according to reports from the region.

The Goa state government has invited expressions of interest from hotel and resort developers keen to create a golf project in the tourism-rich state, India’s smallest. And, according to the Times of India, three companies, including real estate giant DLF and hotel consortium Leading Hotels of the World, have submitted proposals.

Goa’s tourism department issued the expression of interest in January, specifying that bidders should own, or have agreement to purchase, a minimum of 200 acres of land for the project, of which 150 acres would be used for the golf course.

Potential bidders were told that the project must include rainwater harvesting proposals, the use of alternative energy sources such as solar and wind power, and the recycling of all waste. The document also specified that the project should be completed within 40 months of statutory approval being granted.
