New managers for Tillinghast course

Almost a century old, Shackamaxon Golf and Country Club in New Jersey is the latest addition to course operator Troon Golf’s portfolio.

The course, designed by legendary architect AW Tillinghast, was opened in 1916, and features one of golf’s first ‘island’ greens at the ninth. At 6,615 yards, it was among the longest courses in the US at the time of opening.

“Shackamaxon has always been known for its first-class reputation and we are confident our management practices will contribute positively to the club’s overall experience,” said John Easterbrook, Troon’s executive vice president of operations.

“We are proud to have Troon Golf manage Shackamaxon,” said club president Jerry Sherman. “Troon is known as the leading management company for premier golf clubs and we are confident its experience will provide tremendous benefits for the club.”
