Second Els Club opens in SA

South African golf legend Ernie Els has opened the second Els Club at the Copperleaf estate outside Johannesburg.

Built on land formerly owned by Els’s grandfather, the new club joins the original Els Club in Dubai, and includes a golf course designed by his firm.

“This project has been close to my heart right from the start. Once Investec Property came on board we knew that with the right partners we could create something unique and that it would be the best place to open the first Els Club in South Africa.”

Els said he aims to open further such clubs around the world. Club members at any Els property will receive reciprocity at the other facilities. The existing Copperleaf development includes 1,129 home stands, of which almost 500 remain available for purchase.
