Short course to debut at Modry Las

The new season will see the debut of a nine hole short course at Poland’s Modry Las golf club.

The developments at Modry Las, which opened three years ago also include a golf academy and on-site self-catering accommodation. The course was designed by Gary Player’s practice, and Player architect Theo Geertshuis has returned to create the par three course, known as Orli Las. The course has been designed to take less than an hour to play.

“In my experience, short courses are a fantastic addition to any golf resort and if managed properly, can provide a fun and practical alternative to the championship course,” said director of golf Stewart Snedden. “Learners and improving golfers can go out there and get a good understanding of the basics while advanced players can work on their control and approach shots. It’s a great facility.”

To complement the short course, foundations are also being laid for the Modry Las Academy which will provide covered teaching bays overlooking the driving range, a debriefing area, club and equipment sales and a club fitting service. In addition, plans have also been drawn up to build a number of self-catering cottages, able to accommodate up to four golfers.
