Bergin Golf Designs is led by Bill Bergin, an architect who boasts one of the most distinctive backgrounds in the golf industry. Bergin played the world's best golf courses as a touring professional, gained an understanding of club operations and the ability of the everyday player as a teaching professional, and has developed his strong technical design and project management skills over the last twenty years.
Highlighting Bergin Golf Designs’ completed projects are The Club at Fairvue Plantation, a magnificent 36 hole facility on Old Hickory Lake near Nashville, Tennessee, selected as one of Golfweek’s 2009 Best New Courses; Heritage Plantation, in Laurel Hill, Florida, selected as Golf Digest’s fifth best new public/resort Course in the US for 2008; Mirimichi, Justin Timberlake’s eco-friendly course in Memphis, Tennessee; and Chattanooga Golf & Country Club, an acclaimed Donald Ross restoration on the banks of the Tennessee River in downtown Chattanooga.
Before his work as a designer, Bill spent six years playing golf professionally, competing in three US Opens, two Open Championships and more than 50 PGA Tour events. Competing in major championships on courses such as St Andrews and Pebble Beach, and teaching golfers of all abilities, has given him an astute awareness into the strategic quality of a golf course and how it affects all players.
