Daylon Graphics makes terrain-modelling software for both the mainstream and civil engineering audiences with the philosophy that, with today’s computing power, CAD can look and feel natural.
Since 1998, its Leveller heightfield modeller has been used for everything from creating videogame assets to seafloor mapping. Because golf course designers liked its intuitive interface and digital sandbox approach, the company produced a system specifically for them called Landshaper Golf, marrying ease of use with power and comprehensive vendor support.
Landshaper Golf represents terrain as a regular elevation grid, which lets contours and cut/fill analysis update in real time. Modelling is achieved with tools familiar to users of graphic design software, providing a freeform sculpting and drawing interface. Coupled with vector shape support and integrated prototype visualisers, the program is designed to complement a course designer’s toolbox.
