Jeff Howes Golf Design (JHGD) was established in 1991 and has grown in success, employing a highly qualified team of experts, which design golf courses throughout the world. Golf technology, construction and design methods have improved since St Andrews was laid out, but JHGD has embraced the classic design philosophies it displays.

The company has adopted many of the advances in computer technology, turning preliminary concept sketches into 3D computer visualisations enabling the client to see their designs through the eyes of the architect.

Some of JHGD’s international golf course designs include: Adamstal in Austria, a 27 hole resort which has hosted the Man ö Open from 2005 to 2008; Foehrenwald, which played host to the Ladies Austrian Open; Thunersee in Switzerland; and Hafjel in Norway, an 18 hole putting course. In Ireland, JHGD co-designed The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort with Steve Ballesteros.

A number of new JHGD designed courses are to be opened in the next year, including Farnham Estate and Bunclody Golf & Fishing Club in Ireland. JHGD’s work on courses such as Newlands and Carlow has allowed the company to remodel courses closely associated with James Braid and Tom Simpson.
