Karl has 35 years experience in golf course architecture. He was a co-founder of Deutsche Golf Consult (DGC), 1978-2004. The design office focuses on sustainable planning, combining best golf competition with environmental, technical and aesthetic aspects. Under the label of DGC, 260 golf course concepts were designed and over 100 projects were implemented – an experience from which Karl continues to benefit by winning international competitions for re-design and renovation. Recent projects include courses like Beberbeck Castle Resort (54 holes), Oeschberghof Resort, extension to 36 holes and Oberberg GC 18 holes.

Karl has gained an excellent reputation for designing prestigious golf courses such as TPC course at Gut Kaden (27 holes), or for the innovative re-design of traditional courses like Baden-Baden (18), founded in 1901; Luebeck-Travemuende (27) 1921; Gutach-Guetermann (9) 1924 and Mannheim-Viernheim (18) 1930. He also designed several leading golf courses like Konstanz (18), Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler (18) and Wuerzburg (18) and other courses with high reputation, for example: Bitburg-Land Golf Resort, Monrepos Castle (18 hole extension to 36) and GC Niedereutin (27 holes).

Karl’s philosophy is portrayed in the centenary yearbook edition of the German Golf Association, published in 2007. He is also co-author of various specialist books and articles about golf course planning in German language.
