Line Mortensen Ltd was founded by the Danish golf course architect, Line Mortensen, in 2003 and the company has since then been based in Scotland – the home of golf.

The work of Line Mortensen is best described as ‘Scandinavian design and creativity’ meets ‘traditional golf values’. Line Mortensen is very hands-on when it comes to the design but strongly believes in teamwork when creating any golf project.

With a background in landscape architecture, the basis of Line Mortensen’s designs are always the exciting landscapes into which technique, layout, strategy and aesthetics are incorporated, in order to obtain the complete golf facility. Passion for the game, attention to detail and individuality are key – each design is custom fitted to suit the client, the location and the game of golf.

The game of golf is never forgotten in the designs or redesigns of Line Mortensen – she took up the game at the age of four and played international amateur golf for Denmark as a youngster. In 1998 Line Mortensen proudly became the first woman to be admitted to the European Institute of Golf Course Design.

Having worked for several design companies before starting up her own golf course design business, she secured a position as course coordinator and lecturer in Golf Course Design at Edinburgh College of Art. This job brought her to Scotland, the most inspirational place for any golf course architect. Being based in Scotland is a constant reminder of the true values of golf and the true qualities of golf course design – something of benefit to every client of Line Mortensen Ltd.
