Tillers Turf is a specialist grower of turf for golf courses. Specific mixtures are grown for greens, surrounds, tees, fairways, bunkers, and pathways. For greens, the turf is grown on a USGA rootzone and all other turf is grown on sandy topsoil. Turf can be grown to order – for example, the company is growing all eighteen greens for the West Course at Wentworth.

For revetting bunkers, the company can provide turf cut 40mm thick. This is very solid and will last for years in the bunker face. For pathways, many clubs have had success with RTF, which can withstand a combination of heavy wear and lack of water. Various mixtures are grown for tees, both with and without ryegrass. The use of Bargold dwarf ryegrass gives the benefit of fineness of leaf with good wear tolerance. Turf can be supplied in the standard 1m2 format, or in the 25m2 big roll format measuring 1.2m wide.

All types of golf course – links, parkland, and heath land – are regular customers. The company exports turf to Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, Luxemburg, France and Ireland. Refrigerated transport is used to keep the turf in perfect condition.
