Issue 18, October 2009

Few golf courses have been so influential as Bandon Dunes. The original course brought genuine links golf to America for the first time. Since then, developer Mike Keiser has spread his wings, investing in projects as far afield as Australia. With the fourth course at Bandon set for opening, Keiser speaks exclusively to GCA about his vision, his method and his collaborators.

Another course with a long history is Villa d’Este. Italy should be one of the world’s strongest golf tourism players with everything it has to offer, except for a significant stock of quality golf courses. We speak to key figures in the Italian golf world to find out if things are set to change.

This issue also covers David Kidd’s exciting Machrihanish Dunes links course in Scotland in On Site and profiles legendary architect AW Tillinghast in the Pioneer section.
