US-based 3D modelling firm GeoGolf has been hired to create topographic maps, aerial photography and other imagery of both courses at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in California.

MPCC is shortly to embark on a masterplanning exercise and subsequent renovation of its Dunes course under the supervision of Tom Fazio’s design practice. The course was originally laid out by Seth Raynor before being completed after Raynor’s death by Robert Hunter and Alister MacKenzie.

“GeoGolf has a broad scope of services that will help us in our renovation process. Not only that, but their price was well below what others were charging” said Michael Bowhay, the club’s general manager.

“We are glad to be part of such a great project in one of the most prominent locations in the world for golf. The dramatic 400-plus acre property has 15 oceanfront holes along nearly two miles of coastline, and is one of my favourites. It will be exciting what will come of the renovation and we cannot wait to see the final product,” said GeoGolf president Jeff Szukalski.
