The Stevens Park municipal golf course in Oak Cliff, Dallas, is to close on 1 December for a ten month renovation project led by local firm Colligan Golf Design.
The project, budgeted at US$8.1 million, includes building new greens for all eighteen holes, re-routing most of the course, and completely regressing. Stevens Park, which was originally opened in 1922, and was Dallas’s second municipal course, will gain over 250 yards in length as a result of the project.
Erosion control along Coombs Creek, which flows through the middle of the course, will be a major part of the renovation project. Additionally, the course will switch to using recycled water for Dallas Water Utilities for irrigation. A loan from the utility company is helping to pay for the work.
