The course formerly known as Atascocita Golf Course and Country Club will re-open early next year under the new name of Golf Preserve of Atascocita.

It is hoped that despite a turbulent recent history, the 27-hole course in the Pinehurst community of Atascocita, Texas, will open in the spring of 2014.

Built in 1956, the course was forced to close in 2010 after a period of decline. The golf course and club house property were purchased by businessman Kevin Kilgore and a group of local residents last year. A recent open house event at the club attracted around 300 people, and plans for the course’s reopening were revealed.

Part of the committee’s plans includes replacing all the greens on the course, and introducing a new irrigation system. Kilgore has hired Jack Day, who manages a number of local courses in the area, to manage the Golf Preserve of Atascocita.
