Construction manager Braemar Golf has signed off the completion of the new PGA National Russia course in Zavidovo, outside Moscow.

The 7,400 yard course, designed by Dave Sampson of European Golf Design, was constructed by local contractor GeoKam under Braemar’s supervision.

The course is now fully grassed and substantially grown-in and ready for the winter shutdown. Next spring the balance of the grow-in works will be completed in readiness for opening in September.

“We are delighted that we have managed to achieve full construction and substantial grow-in on time to ensure that the course can fully open in 2012 as originally planned,” said Braemar golf courses director Jonathan Pendry, who was responsible for the construction management.

Members will be able to access the clubhouse and play the first nine holes next June,  and the course will be fully open for play in September. PGA National Russia is the centre piece of a 1,300ha masterplanned community on the shores of the Ivankovskoye reservoir, adjoining the Volga River, 90km from Moscow.
