Construction is set to begin in November on a new golf course in California.

The town of Yucca Valley will be home to a new 12-hole course and driving range, to be named Hawk’s Landing Golf Club

The site of the former Blue Skies Country Club was purchased by Bill Brehm Sr in August 2012, and used to be home to a reputable country club and golf course, built in 1950 and originally designed by Roscoe Smith.

Landscapes Unlimited will carry out the work, and architect Cary Bickler will lead the project.

The old course closed in 2008 and fell into disrepair. A brand new clubhouse will be put in place, as well as repair work on the course’s wells.

Due to the proposed course’s desert location, water is a major issue at Hawk’s Landing. Brehm told local media that he plans to reduce water usage on the course, and 30 acres of non-irrigated native areas have been designated, with just 60 acres of turf. This is far less than the previous course on the site, which had over 100 acres of irrigated turf.
