The FLL (the German landscape research, development and construction society) has translated its guidelines on golf course construction to English.

The document can be dowloaded from the society’s website.

Last updated in 2000, the new edition of Guidelines for the Construction of Golf Courses is the fourth from the FLL, which is chaired by Rainer Preissmann, senior member of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects.

The document covers the construction and renovation of all types of golf courses, as well as practice areas. Furthermore, it provides guidance on every stage of construction from development to opening for play.

The guide addresses all types of course from par three short courses and executive courses to championship courses. The document also explores more general themes such as golf course security, environmental aspects including preservation, the basic principles of landscape planning, as well as maintenance and management.

Guidelines for the Construction of Golf Courses is designed specifically for the industry and is intended to act as a useful tool for cooperation between clients, architects and construction companies.
