The French golf federation's plan to use the 2018 Ryder Cup to develop the game in the country will be discussed at the forthcoming European Golf Course Owner's Association (EGCOA) conference in Cannes.

The event, to be held at the Hotel Majestic Barriere from 21-23 November, will feature a presentation by Pascal Grizot, chairman of the successful bid, on the federation's aim of building 100 new urban golf facilities – ranging from three to nine holes – before the event takes place in 2018, with the goal of making golf more affordable and available across France.

Other speakers include Mike Leemhuis, chief executive of 2011 US Open host club Congresssional. Leemhuis will explore emerging trends in the golf industry with a focus on the impact they have on club management. For more information on the conference visit the EGCOA website.
