From landfill to golf in Buffalo?

The city of Buffalo in New York State may get a new public golf course in the next few years, as city leaders consider a plan to turn two landfill sites into an eighteen hole course.

Buffalo's Urban Development Corporation is expected to issue a request for proposals inviting consultants to submits plans for the sites in the near future. The proposed course would replace a nine hole course in the city's South Park.

“We want to get an idea of how much it may cost and just how feasible this is,” David Stebbins, the corporation's vice president, told Buffalo Business First. “Ideally, though, we’d love to turn these landfills into something productive for the city and the community. It could be a great use for the land.”

The corporation hopes to have responses to the RFP by early October and to consider proposals at a meeting towards the end of that month.
