Construction of the new Lodestone Golf Club in Maryland, USA, is on target for a June 2010 opening.

Lodestone is being built by Wisp Resort Development and will be run by OB Sports Golf Management. All eighteen holes at the course, located on a mountain ridge above Deep Creek Lake completely grassed. Lodestone is a collaboration between three-time US Open winner Hale Irwin and Todd Schoeder of Denver-based Design Workshop.

“All holes on the front nine were actually playable this season and the back nine grassing was completed this year,” said Steve Richards, president of Wisp Resort Development. “We look forward to opening Lodestone next summer to the golfing world.”

The 7,335 yards course will feature numerous significant elevation changes, including a 110-foot drop from tee to green on the thirteenth hole.

“It's been a pleasure working with both Todd Schoeder and Hale Irwin,” said Orrin Vincent, owner and co-founder of OB Sports Golf Management. “From the onset of the project, our agronomy team, led by superintendent Scott McMillion, both course designers and the leaders of Wisp Resort Development have been truly dedicated to building a world class golf club.” Lodestone is located two hours from Pittsburgh and three hours from Baltimore and Washington DC.
