Golf course architect Tripp Davis has fulfilled a long-standing ambition by overseeing the conversion of the greens at The Tribute Golf Links & Guest House to TifEagle bermudagrass.

Davis was the original architect of the course near Dallas, Texas, and returned to oversee the recent work.

“The Tribute was my first ‘big’ job we started design on in 1997,” Davis told GCA. “It’s a ‘tribute’ to my favourite holes from Scottish Links courses – not copies – just inspirations.”

The course first opened back in 2000, and Davis was always keen to return to work on the greens.

“I always wanted Bermuda greens, so we have finally converted to TifEagle,” he said. “I went back and reshaped slopes that would be a little severe for modern green speeds and I reshaped some areas I simply wanted to change.”

The project, which coincided with major work to the clubhouse at The Tribute, has now been completed and the course has reopened for play.
