The historic Hamilton Golf & Country Club in Canada has opened its new short course, designed by Tom Clark, ASGCA as a tribute to Harry Colt, the architect of the club’s main eighteen hole course.

Constructed by NGF Golf, the six hole short course features replicas of some of the most famous par threes from Colt’s career, including the ‘Alps’ eleventh hole at Royal Liverpool, ‘Calamity Corner’, the fourteenth at Royal Portrush, and the uphill fourteenth at Wentworth’s West course.

The club invested around C$300,000 in the new course, which is located on the former driving range, and used fill from a new irrigation reservoir, also constructed by NGF. Hamilton has hosted four Canadian Opens during its history, and will be the venue for the 2012 playing of the tournament.
