Harbottle remodel for White Horse

Seattle-based architect John Harbottle has completed a US$700,000 renovation of the White Horse golf club on Washington’s Kitsap peninsula.

White Horse, originally designed by Cynthia Dye McGarey, was purchased out of foreclosure by the Suquamish Tribe in 2010. Harbottle’s project aimed to make the course more player-friendly, with 62 bunkers – twelve of them on one hole – and more than 200 trees removed.

Harbottle told the Kitsap Sun: "We made it a little flatter, but didn't make it flat. We softened some of the really steep stuff. You'll be hard-pressed to go out there and say, 'They built a bunker here, and did this there’."
