Schiphol Real Estate, the property arm of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, and its partner, BurgGolf, the Netherlands’ largest golf course operator, will open the new golf course adjacent to the airport on 1 July.

Formerly known as Amsterdam International Golf Club, the course has been renamed The International to avoid confusion with the existing Amsterdam Golf Club. The 75 hectare site was previously green belt land, and is situated to the north of the airport.

Belgian practice Mastergolf designed the course, which is being branded as an Ian Woosnam signature. Clubhouse construction is underway, and is expected to take up to six years. In the meantime, a temporary clubhouse is in use. Clubhouse design is by architectural firm Macanoo, while the interior will be designed by well-known Dutch designer Piet Boon.
