Rough shaping is almost complete at the oceanside Laguna Lăng Cô golf project in Vietnam.

The course, which is being designed by Sir Nick Faldo’s practice, is expected to open during mid 2012. Fourteen holes have now been shaped.

“This golf course is shaping up nicely and already has some wonderful movement,” said Faldo, during a recent site visit, at which he was accompanied by his lead architect Paul Jansen and the construction management team from International Golf & Resort Management. “The diverse character of the terrain allowed us to incorporate some very interesting and unusual features. In addition to several views of the ocean, golfers will experience the course’s amphitheatre-like mountain backdrop and the rich variety of woodland, scrub and rocky outcrops that feature throughout the round.”

Laguna Lăng Cô is part of a resort being developed by Banyan Tree Holdings on a 280-hectare beachfront site that, when fully developed, will have approximately 2,000 hotel keys under the management of international branded hotel and resort operators.
