A pair of new golf developments in Morocco have hired Troon Golf to manage their courses, joining the company’s growing portfolio in the region, which includes the Mazagan resort on the coast near Casablanca.

Bouskoura Golf City is located on the edge of Bouskoura National Forest, close to Casablanca, and expected to become one of the city’s newest business hubs. The Bouskoura course is a Tony Jacklin signature project, with Spanish-based architects Sterling and Martin providing design services. Atlas Golf Resort in Marrakech has been designed by another Spanish architect, Francisco López Segalés.

“There is much anticipation surrounding both new developments in Casablanca and Marrakech. Both properties have the opportunity to establish themselves as leading leisure attractions in Morocco’s broader golf and tourism plans,” said Bruce Glasco of Troon. “Morocco has the potential to become one of the world’s most intriguing new golfing nations, something we recognised when we first began discussions with some of the country’s most stunning golf developments a number of years ago.”

Bouskoura will open nine holes in September, with the full course set for completion in 2013. Meanwhile, Atlas will become the main sporting component of a development that will feature two new hotels, as well as several residential offerings that frame the golf course.
