New cart fleet for Killarney

Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, host to this year’s Irish Open, has purchased a new fleet of 36 electric E-Z-GO RXV golf carts from Irish Textron dealer Kevin Broderick.

General manager Maurice O’Meara said: ““From a customer perspective these buggies are easy to use and the automatic braking on slopes is a clever feature. Many customers wouldn’t play unless they have the use of a buggy and societies and other large groups expect them. Our previous fleet was petrol, but we have changed to electric as they are much easier to manage. They all have onboard chargers, which simply plug into a standard power socket for overnight charging. We are gradually introducing buggy paths and have plans for a wind turbine to generate the electricity for recharging the fleet.

“The major attraction of these buggies is that they are self-financing from the revenue stream they generate. They are very cost-effective to run and properly managed add significantly to our income.”
