The Ocean Pines club in Maryland, managed by Billy Casper Golf, has embarked on a capital enhancements project to convert all greens on its golf course to A-1 creeping bentgrass.

Ocean Pines, which was originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr, plans to returf the front nine this year and the back nine in spring 2013, giving golfers to access at least nine holes of play at all times.

In addition to resurfacing the greens, the club is adding new drainage pipes and re-shaping bunker edges on the front nine. The entire project is slated for completion in late May 2013. In the interim, golfers will play the open nine twice to complete a full eighteen hole round.

“Converting greens to a more durable grass will ensure even better playability and enjoyment for our loyal golfers,” said Damian Cosby, the club’s director of golf.
