Developer TDIC and hotel operator Starwood have opened the new Westin resort at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

The new resort, the first Westin property in Abu Dhabi, includes 172 guest rooms, restaurants and lounges, a spa and meeting facilities.

The resort is located alongside the golf course at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, which underwent extensive upgrades at the hands of architect Peter Harradine in January 2011 and is managed by Troon Golf.

“This is a momentous year for TDIC, as we are achieving a number of significant delivery milestones, of which the Westin is one,” said Ali Al Hammadi, the developer’s executive director of project services.

Starwood currently operates nearly 50 hotels in the Middle East, including five in Abu Dhabi, and has around 25 new hotels slated to open in the region over the next few years, including the Westin Saraya Aqaba in Jordan and the Westin Muscat in Oman.
