Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design has completed plans for a new nine hole golf course in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Construction drawings, details and specifications have been finalised for the Yas Acres Golf Course project, which is to go out to bid in January 2017.

Earthworks will commence in the early part of next year, before detailed golf course construction begins in the second quarter of 2017.

As part of the course’s development, a low, meandering ridgeline will be created through the middle of the golf course site to create more variety. A recirculating lake and stream system will also be built, while native desert plants and vegetation will characterise the course.

The course will be at the core of an 130-acre development site, which will also feature residential areas.

“The desert/oasis style golf course will be both visually stunning and fun to play for golfers of all skill level,” said Dana Fry of Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design. “With the incorporation of a housing development that does not impact the course and provides bordering homes very dramatic views, we feel this course will become a great addition to the UAE golf scene and another great amenity on Yas Island.”

The course is expected to open in 2020.
