Golf operator Troon has designated May as its second 'Player Development Month'.

In conjunction with the PGA of America's 'Welcome to Golf Month,' Troon facilities around the world will join together to conduct more than 500 introductory golf clinics and activities during the month. These clinics aim to introduce beginners to the game in a fun, affordable and educational way.

One junior play who has benefitted from such clinics in the past is Masters Silver Cup winner Guan Tianlang, who plays out of the Troon-managed Lion Lake Country Club in China.

“I greatly appreciate efforts that encourage juniors to play and learn the game of golf,” said Guan. “Lion Lake Country Club in China has played a huge role in my development as a player and I am very grateful for the opportunities that these programmes provide.”

Troon says that to make the clinics accessible to as many people as possible, participation in most events costs only US$20 for adults, while juniors are free. At the conclusion of each clinic, participants will have the opportunity to continue their pursuit of the game by registering for a Get Golf Ready program, which includes five additional instructional classes starting at US$99.

“Based on the success of our first ever 'player development month' last year, we are thrilled to launch the program again this May,” said Troon's John Easterbrook. “Increasing participation in our game is extremely important and we are confident that this will make a strong impact on introducing beginners to the game.”
