Renovated Gulf course buys carts

The newly renovated Abu Dhabi City Golf Club – formerly the Golf & Equestrian Club – has invested in a fleet of E-Z-GO golf carts and shuttle vehicles.

The course was converted to grass from its original sand in 1998, becoming Abu Dhabi’s first all grass course. It has recently been relaunched, with fairways and greens being renovated.

However, it is not just the course that has been upgraded. The club has purchased a fleet of 25 new E-Z-GO RXV golf cars, all with GPS, and three Six Shuttles for use by members and guests. Club manager Rhian Lobo said: “The RXV fleet was selected for many reasons such as the ease of maintenance, since not many parts are required, and my mechanic’s familiarity with this reliable brand. Both the manufacturers’ warranty and Desert Turfcare’s warranty made it very convenient for us to decide on the EZGO RXV. The battery filling system is a pre-requisite on all cars and one full battery charge can give us up to three rounds of golf.

The relaunch of the Abu Dhabi City Golf Club underlines its efforts to bring challenging but affordable golf to the UAE. There are also more challenging tees, none more so than at the par three seventh. The green on the ninth hole has been moved to the edge of the water. Any shot finishing too short of the flag will almost certainly mean a watery end.
