A renovation project on the Monocan nine at Stoney Creek Golf Course is now underway.

Part of the Wintergreen Resort in the US state of Virginia, the project at Stoney Creek will eradicate cool-season grasses around green surround areas.

Selected areas of turf will be stripped and replaced with Latitude Bermuda sprigs or turf. This includes areas around the greens and bunkers.

The new turf will thrive in the summer months, and help create enhanced chipping and pitching conditions around the greens throughout the year.

Stoney Creek Golf Course was originally designed by Rees Jones. The upcoming project is being overseen by Fred Biggers, Wintergreen’s director of golf course maintenance, and his staff.

The new turf will be grown in with watering and heavy fertilisation throughout the summer, with a scheduled completion date set for September 2017.
