An American publisher has launched a new e-book edition of Bernard Darwin’s legendary 1911 volume The Golf Courses of the British Isles.

Publisher Tri-Horn International says the new edition of Darwin’s classic is especially noteworthy as it has carefully restored all 64 of Harry Rountree’s famous illustrations from the original book.

In his foreword to the book, Ben Crenshaw notes: “As a practicing golf course architect myself, I find this book insightful in describing the concepts of strategic design. Bernard Darwin had a wonderful feel for what makes a good golf hole. This was second nature to him, so in a way, this book is his textbook for golf course architecture.”

The Commemorative Edition of The Golf Courses of the British Isles is available on all Apple, Android and Windows 8 devices.
