The 18-hole golf course under construction near Schiphol Airport has been named Amsterdam International Golf Club. The course design has been led by Bruno Stenseels and Cees van Nieuwenhuizen of Belgian firm Mastergolf International and will bear Ian Woosnam’s signature.

According to the club: “The design optimally exploits the uneven terrain. Height variances up to 14 meters, water hazards, unique perspectives and beautiful sightlines provide the golf course with a non-Dutch character.”

Marcel Welling, CEO of Amsterdam International Golf Club, says: “The golf course will be absolutely world-class and in line with the highest international standards. The club house will also meet the most stringent quality criteria and offers a range of luxurious services, such as an exclusive restaurant concept, extensive fitness and wellness facilities and meeting facilities equipped with the latest technologies.”

Seeding is expected to take place in Spring 2011 with the golf course and associated facilities ready for mid-2012. Amsterdam International is a sister company of BurgGolf, which operates 10 courses in The Netherlands.
