The second phase of an extensive renovation project at the Pearland Golf Club near Houston, Texas, is to start in the next few weeks.

Work at the Jay Riviere-designed course is being led by Jeff Blume, and the architect spoke to GCA about the project.

“Pearland Golf Club’s first phase of renovation that was completed late last summer,” Blume said. “The course still has a little growing in to do, but it is open for play – although the ninth hole is currently played as a par three until the fairway has adequate turf coverage.”

The project’s second phase will begin in the next couple of weeks according to Blume, and is likely to be completed this summer.

”The style of design is traditional with elevated, small greens, small clustered bunkers, and tightly mowed chipping areas around the greens,” Blume said. “The goal for the project is to provide the southern part of Houston with an affordable, fun and creative golf experience, while enhancing the main amenity of the community for the surrounding residents.”
